5 Questions To Ask Yourself Before Replacing Your AC

hand-drawing-check-boxYou’ve come to a difficult fork in the road. We’re full swing into spring, the weather is only getting warmer with each passing day, and your air conditioner is showing you some troubling signs. You have no idea what to do—should you stick through another summer with the system you already have, or should you undergo the process of replacement?

Our team is here to help you. An air conditioner replacement starts before swapping out your system with a new one. It starts when you begin to even wonder things like this. We want to help you if you need new AC installation in Palm Bay, FL and we’re going to start today by giving you the info you need.

A Few Questions to Ask Yourself

Here are a few things you can ask yourself if you’re considering replacing your air conditioner.

1.      How Expensive is My AC?

This isn’t about how much you spent purchasing the system initially. We want you to think of how much you’ve paid over the years.

If you’ve spent a countless amount of money on repair work or even your air conditioning bills themselves, then replacement is your best bet. This is especially true if the cost of your repair jobs has increased as time has gone on. Constantly throwing money at your air conditioner just to get decent service means that you don’t have an air conditioner that’s working right. It’s time to swap it out.

2.      How Old Is My Unit?

Air conditioners can last about 10-15 years. They shouldn’t be pushed too far past this point. If your air conditioner is reaching its golden years, then we want you to consider retiring it gracefully. Don’t wait until it gives out on you. Prepare to purchase a new air conditioner now.

3.      Is My System Well Maintained?

Do you schedule an appointment to maintain your air conditioner every year? You can be honest with us.

If you don’t, it increases the chances that your air conditioner gives out sooner. If you’re struggling with your air conditioner, you haven’t maintained the system well, and it’s a little on the older side, then replacement is your answer.

4.      Is My System Efficient?

Air conditioning efficiency is measure by something called a SEER rating. SEER stands for season energy efficiency ratio. It represents how efficiently your air conditioner works. If yours isn’t hovering around at least 13 or 14 then it means that you have an outdated system. SEER ratings reach heights of 25 now. Investing in a new unit will save you energy and money.

5.      Will I Be Comfortable?

This is the last question we want you to ask yourself. It’s one of the more important questions. If you’re at the point of considering replacement, then you’ve probably had air conditioning trouble for a while. If you call recall previous summers where you’ve struggled with your air conditioner, then it’s best to just replace the system. This isn’t going to be the summer when your air conditioner decides to shape up. It’s likely that things will get worse. A new, efficient AC unit will keep you cool with ease.
