Is It Time for AC Repairs?

Monday, March 5th, 2018 at 11:00 am

woman-in-front-of-fanIf so, then you should act fast. Now, we’re only in early March, and our current temperatures certainly fall well shy of the highs that we expect to see during the summer season. That in no way means that you can afford to overlook any problems with your air conditioning system in Palm Bay, FL, though, and it definitely doesn’t mean that you’ll want to wait until temperatures really spike before you have them resolved. Doing so is opening yourself up to AC issues.

So if you’re not supposed to wait for your system to break down before scheduling repairs, how do you know when to do so? The answer is fairly simple,  though more difficult to put into practice: schedule service at the first sign of trouble. To do so, of course, you’re going to need to learn to recognize the signs that your air conditioner is in trouble to begin with. Here are some issues to look out for. When in doubt, contact us to share your concerns.

Listen for Unusual Operating Sounds

Your air conditioner may be blowing cool air throughout your home. Does it sound like a jet taking off as it does so, though? Then something is not right. Not only should you be on the lookout—or is it listen-out?—for sounds that are louder than usual, but you should also listen for sounds that are entirely out of the ordinary with your air conditioning system. Clanging, banging, booming—any such sounds could indicate the need for repairing your home cooling system.

Feel for Uneven Cooling/Warm Air

Did your air conditioner used to do just fine in cooling your home evenly throughout the living space? Is it leaving hot spots in your house now?  Is it actually blowing warm air out of its vents? There are a few potential reasons for this. You could have a refrigerant leak, which will lead too serious damage or even compressor failure if left unaddressed. Or you could have leaky ductwork. You’ll need a professional AC repair technician not only to fix any problems, but to diagnose them accurately as well.

Pay Attention to Your Utility Bills

The fact that your system is running reliably does not necessarily mean that your air conditioner is running properly. One of the most common signs that your air conditioner is struggling is a spike in cooling costs. The system doesn’t necessarily have to break down to be suffering from any number of problems. When your system has a problem, you can count on it seeing a decrease in overall energy efficiency. Don’t overpay for a lesser performance from your home cooling system.

The last thing that any Floridian wants is to run into problems with his or her air conditioner. It gets hot enough around here that this is not just a matter of comfort. It can actually prove to be dangerous. Let us handle your AC repairs, and your system will be put back on track fast.
