Shouldn’t My Home Be Cooler Than This?

Monday, May 14th, 2018 at 11:00 am

therrmometerAt some point, you spent a good a good amount of money on a new air conditioning system with the goal of keeping yourself and your family comfortable throughout even the hottest stretches of the year. The realization that your home just isn’t cool enough is one that can really come as a blow. If you are frustrated by the fact that it is warmer than you’d like in your home, you’re not alone. You are also not out of luck.

There are a lot of reasons why it may seem as though your AC just isn’t doing the job well enough. A proper diagnosis of the problem is every bit as important as the fix that is put in place. That is why you should contact a member of our team when you suspect the need for air conditioning repair in Melbourne, FL. When you hire us, the job will be done right the first time.

Worst Case Scenario: Improper Sizing

A lot of the causes of insufficient cooling can be resolved with repairs. If your air conditioner is too small for the house that you live in, however, this just isn’t the case. That is why hiring qualified professionals to install your AC is so important.

If your air conditioner cannot keep up with the cooling demand in your home, then you just are not going to be as comfortable as you should be. If you’ve had this issue since investing in your new system, this may be the case. If it is, an AC replacement is really the only option.

Ducts and Insulation

Okay, not that that’s out of the way, let’s look at a few problems that can be resolved without replacing the AC. In fact, these issues exist outside of the AC itself (though the ducts are obviously a part of the system at large). If you have ducts that are damaged and leaking, then the system can be pulling heat in from unconditioned areas that they pass through, and that will make it a lot harder to cool your home evenly and effectively.

So too will issues with insufficient insulation in different areas of the house. If your house is cool in some spots but noticeably warmer in others, then you may need to add insulation to those areas that are not as comfortable. Unwanted heat gain is unfortunate, but it is also manageable when you work with insulation service professionals.

Refrigerant Leaks

A refrigerant leak is one of the most serious air conditioning problems that you can encounter with your system. The refrigerant in your system is what allows for the removal of heat from the air in your home. It draws heat out of the air as it evaporates, and too little refrigerant means too little cooling capacity.

It can also mean extensive damage to your air conditioner if you continue to run the system with the leak in place. You could even irrevocably damage the compressor, in which case you are looking at a replacement. If you suspect a leak, let us know immediately.
