3 Indicators You Need a Heater Replacement

Keeping an old, inefficient heater in your home is only going to lead to more problems for your overall comfort. Here are some of the signs that you should consider a heater upgrade, if not now, then very soon.

1. Your heater is more than 15 years old. A heater isn’t going to break down the moment it reaches a certain age. However, it’s good to keep track of your system’s age range so you can be prepared. After the system reaches 15 years of service, it’s best to start preparing to replace it in the coming year. Even if the system still functions, it will begin to lose efficiency at this age. What’s more, it will also be far less efficient and effective than the newer systems that have become available over the last 15 years.
2. The system needs repairs too often. Take a moment to think about how often you have to schedule repairs for your heater. If you only need repairs once every few years, or even less frequently than that, you will probably be okay keeping your current system. On the other hand, if you need repairs each year when you try to use your system, it means you should be looking at a replacement as an investment in fewer struggles and fewer repair appointments.
